Dear Boni,

I have been amazed (in both big and small ways) that what I have intended to create has actually come to fruition. At least, I believe that it has. And, therein lies my question.

How does one know when an opportunity arises that it is the one that you wanted to create?

I’ve been in a job for nine years. It hasn’t been pleasant and I’ve had to work on increasing my knowledge and self-confidence as my boss could easily strip one’s worth away with his cutting and derogatory remarks.

Although I feel luckier than most to have had a good paying job for such a long period of time, I have now been offered a new, better paying job in an exciting environment that both challenges and enthuses me.

So what’s the problem?

Well, I feel like it’s the right thing to do (although a part of me does feel bad in leaving a secure environment), however I’ve been a risk taker in the past and sometimes things have worked out and sometimes they haven’t.

I on some level I know I created it—and I do feel excited about it. But I’m afraid of making a mistake. I guess I just want to know if it’s the right thing?

I didn’t ask God or my Higher Self or unseen friends to create something exact. I didn’t even ask for a new job opportunity. I did ask for help with financial abundance, though. But this opportunity is not what I would have ever expected—it’s not even something I would have even thought about.

How could I have created this? How could such an unlikely, unexpected opportunity happen so amazingly without it being a response to something God, my Soul or someone I can’t touch presenting to me?

Signed,
Confused & Scared (but excited too!)

__________________________________________

Dear Confused,

I understand. I too, have wondered, is this THE man? Is this THE job? Is this THE right thing to do?

It can get a bit crazy making—all that wondering and second-guessing.

And I believe there are several things going on and I’d like to address them one by one. But first…

Congratulations on creating this opportunity!

Creating any opportunity is cause for celebration. Be it a possible love interest, job, home, idea…anything really. So many people are quick to jump to “But…will this be the one?” Don’t go there. Give yourself some time to really let it in—you created this. You.

Own it. Let it be real. Congratulate yourself. Celebrate. Be grateful for it and for the help you received.

The only way you get better at conscious creating is by owning what you docreate (good and bad). So don’t rush to “what will happen in the future”. Stay here in the present long enough to let in and “own” your creation.

And then remember…

You don’t have to ask for exactly “the thing” you want to create it

The way creation works, is that you put out the “energy” (feelings about the area of life you want to improve), and the universe delivers the “things” that makes you feel that way. The caveat is, you can’t control what it looks like.

So actually asking for abundance and letting the universe figure how to deliver is the best way to create.

Another thing to remember…

Your unseen friends don’t create your reality—you do

You write, “How could such an unlikely, unexpected opportunity happen so amazingly without it being a response to something God, my Soul or someone I can’t touch presenting to me?”

You, dear creator, are a piece of God. You are a piece of Goddess. You are divine by your very nature. And as a part of that divinity, you have the ability to create your world.

Our unseen friends can help, but we chose to incarnate on a planet of “free will”. And that means that they won’t interfere—unless we ask.

Of course there is always the possibility of miracles. A miracle is something beyond what you have sought to create. They do happen and when they do it is the doing of our unseen friends.

You asked for abundance, and you got it. Of course it is always appropriate to thank your unseen friends for any assistance they provided.

As to your next question:

Is this the “right” opportunity?

Whether or not this job turns out well depends on one thing—you. You have created this opportunity, Confused. And you will create the results of this opportunity.

Now make sure you hear that. You and you alone will create the results of this opportunity.

So whether it is a new job, a new mate, a new location or a new career, itwon’t prove itself right, wrong or mediocre—you will.

So keep your energy, expectations, excitement, and joy up. And when you hit a wall, hit your belief work to figure out how you mis-created.

And one more thing…

Whether or not this will last doesn’t matter

What! What do you mean whether this lasts doesn’t matter??? Of course it matters!

Actually, it doesn’t. What matters is that you create your desires.

You desire abundance. What if far more abundance is ready and waiting to manifest in your life, but you need just a little bit more self-worth in order for it to come in? You take this job, and it gives you that self-worth, and at that point you hold the higher vibration to allow another (even better) job offer.

When you stop being attached to the outcome, you can begin to enjoy the journey—no matter how convoluted it may seem—and trust the essence of your desire will manifest.

I hope this helps, Confused!

Love,

    Dear Boni,

This is one of my favorite posts by you that I often return to (thanks for writing it!), particularly as I try to maneuver the current situation that I drew to me during the upswing of an intense spiritual awakening. I have a question for you, but a little context first: after a really rough year I used to intensely work on getting through years of accumulated inner muck, I created a lovely potential relationship space that checks so many of my boxes and has me feeling ways I’ve never really felt. It’s still quite new however and has been yielding a lot of uncertainty where complicated communication impasses are leaving me in the dark about the direction this is going, forcing me into a really uncomfortable zone of “flowing.” I deeply sense the connection is there for him too, but his past hurt often leaves him guarded, not to mention that his zodiac sign says that when he starts to feel deeply about a love interest, he pulls back and retreats into really confusing aloofness and silence. Because of his knack for patience, this limbo period could last far longer than I have the patience for. Any other period in my life I would have run. (In fact I tried but the Universe immediately humbled me and brought me right back!) But it’s clear to me that this situation, wherever it’s “the one” or not, is giving me an incredible opportunity to move away from delineating what I like and dislike based on old habits and familiar fears and instead focus on FLOW STRENGTHENING work towards my larger personal and relationship goals. From day one, the “Divinity in me” knew exactly what messiness inside of me this situation is exposing and I’ve been diligently working through it. I have a lot of fear that there is great potential here that might go to waste simply because of our inability to get on the same page, but I am very grateful for the internal changes that I’ve already managed to implement.

    My question:
You state: “You and you alone will create the results of this opportunity. So whether it is a new job, a new mate, a new location or a new career, it won’t prove itself right, wrong or mediocre—you will.”

Can you elaborate on this? What does it mean to “create the results” of a complex situation you’re becoming attached to while also letting go enough to leave room for the possibility that something better might be in store? How do you know when to “act” and put in the appropriate work externally vs simply letting go and watching things unfold as they must? I’m unclear in this situation as to how much energy I should be putting on actions I can take to “fix” what my mind says I can fix externally, and to what degree I really should only be investing my time in my energy – how I want to feel. (I think here about your section in THE MAP on the importance of actually taking action steps.)

Thank you for the article and in advance for your reply! You are a light in this world.

    • Hi Denise,

Thank you for your email. Matters of the heart seem to be a lot fuzzier than other areas of creation, and for good reason—relationships are important to us and that special one is front and center, always in our minds and hearts.

In answer to your question: You continue your flow, of working on beliefs, holding intentions, changing beliefs, and taking action steps towards the dream, WHETHER OR NOT you are with this man, not with him, with someone else, or with no one at all. The outside world should not determine your inside focus, period.

And while someone is in your life, you give it 100%—be as kind as you can be, feel grateful, and be honest with him and yourself about what you feel.

You ask: “How do you know when to “act” and put in the appropriate work externally vs simply letting go and watching things unfold as they must?”

You act when it feels good to act. You always let go and watch things unfold not “as they must” but as you are creating them to unfold.

You ask, “I’m unclear in this situation as to how much energy I should be putting on actions I can take to “fix” what my mind says I can fix externally…”

Remember you can’t “fix” anyone. But you can heal yourself. Stay with this person until the time that you are clear that he can’t meet you in the relationship you truly desire. And until then, remember you created him and you can create another, and you will love, and learn, and grow, and have fun doing it.

I hope this helps Denise. Wishing you SO much success in love and everywhere,
      Boni

Isn’t it amazing how the Universe does deliver. And as you rightly said, it’s up to us to take things from there. I now thank the Universe for everything it delivers even if the packaging is not the way I want it to be! :)

      Hi Corinne,

Yes, it absolutely is amazing how the universe delivers. And remember, how it delivers may not look like you expected, but it always will FEEL like you expected!!

Wow, I needed this. We really do get attached to the outcome and forget about the journey. Great perspective.
